Moray East Windfarm Spillage Protection
Chemclear is providing spillage protection services to the Moray East Windfarm project.
We are working with Grosvenor Oil to protect against potential oil contamination at the onshore substation to the wind farm in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
The multi-million project, which began in 2018, will provide electricity to more than 1 million UK homes by 2022 and will be developed over an area of 295km².
Engineering
Chemclear MD Chris Jones, said: “The Moray East Windfarm project is huge, it is an incredible piece of engineering and we are proud to be able to play a small role by supporting our client Grosvenor Oil.
“We are the existing spill response provider to Grosvenor Oil and we were approached to assist in the provision of spillage protection and containment systems for delivery and processing of nearly half a million liters of oil over the project.
“We provided two reinforced and flexible HGV vehicle bunds, each with three capacity to contain 2,400 liters, which were both specifically manufactured for the task.
“We also provided extra protection against ground conditions with additional groundsheets and repair kits.”
Response
Chemclear will provide spillage response should any incidents occur through our ‘Spill Response Network’.
It is envisaged the units will require repositioning up to nine times during the project and Chemclear will ensure this is completed without incident or damage to the bunds.
The initial deployment of the bunds was carried out on May 29, 2020, and we will be returning to repeat the process.
